100 winners of the 2018 Scholarship program revealed

100 high-achievers university and high-school students from Bucharest, Constanta and Prahova have been selected as winners of the KMG International Scholarships program 2018, receiving annual grants amounting to USD 100,000. Their names can be found on the company’s website.

 “We believe it is imperative to offer the right support to future generations of specialists in Oil & Gas who are at the start of their professional life. As the celebration of 100 years of the Great Romania unfolds, we wanted to empower highly-promising students and offer them recognition for their achievements, as part of our long-term strategy to support and invest in education in Romania. We plan to continue this commitment for the next generations of future oil & gas professionals.” Alexey Golovin, Vice-President KMG International.

50 scholarships have been awarded to students from the company’s apprenticeship program, upon the evaluation of their performance.  The remaining 50 were awarded through the grant call, for 25 high school students and 25 university students with high academic achievements, determined to build a career in the energy sector. Their profiles include chemistry, mechanical engineering, petroleum and gas engineering or economics, studying at universities such as Petroleum and Gas University of Ploiesti, Ovidius University Constanta, Politehnica University of Bucharest, University of Bucharest or The Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and high-schools from Constanta, Bucuresti and Ploiesti.

370 applications received through the grant call were evaluated by a jury comprised of four KMGI representatives - Cristian Bolohan, Process Engineering Director, Laurenţiu Colţănel, Operations Director at Rompetrol Refining, Costinela Drăgan, Sustainability Manager, Simona Popovici, HR Director - and two university professors: Prof. Ion Onutu from the Petroleum and Gas University of Ploiesti and Prof. Anca Sterpu from Ovidius University Constanta, Faculty of Physics, Chemistry, Electronics and Petroleum Technology.

For more than 15 years, KMG International has been offering internship and apprenticeship programs as investment tools in the development of human resources and transfer skills from its professionals to young graduates. In 2018, 140 students were selected for apprenticeship programs within the companies from Petromidia and Vega platforms and 20 within the corporate office in Bucharest. KMG International has been joined by 1300 interns since 2001, many of which have remained with the company. The Group has initiated extensive collaborations with universities from various cities across the country, developing custom-made projects for the needs of students interested in pursuing a career in the energy sector.
